Ruth Elizabeth Abbott April 8, 1919- September 23, 2006 PHENIX CITY, AL—
Ruth Elizabeth Abbott, 87, of Phenix City, AL, died Saturday, September 23, 2006, at The Medical Center in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery, with Rev. Jim Meadows and Rev. Dexter James officiating, according to Colonial Funeral Home, 613-14th St., Phenix City. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 till 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The deacons of Central Baptist Church will serve as honorary pall bearers. Mrs. Abbott was born April 8, 1919, in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late L. L. Purvis and Alice Morgan Purvis. She was a loving homemaker, a member of Central Baptist Church, and an Auburn University Graduate. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Abbott, son, Charles Michael Abbott, sister, Minnie Lee Jackson, and brothers Leonard Purvis and David Purvis. Survivors include her sons, Steve Abbott and wife Patty, and Alton Abbott and wife Doris, all of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren Alton Abbott, Jr., Adicia Coulter, John Abbott, Gary Abbott and Rendi Hall; and eight great-grandchildren.
