Ex-State Trooper Rites Set Sunday

George. R. "Doc" Rose. 64, former
state trooper, died Wednesday
night at his home on Sissonville
road. The body was removed to
the Long, Johnson and Fisher mor-
tuary
Mr. Rose was a member of the
state department of public safety
from Sept. 1, 1919 until September
1927, and during the last war served
as a guard with the Chesapeake
and Potomac Telephone Co,
He was employed by the Spur Gasoline
Co, (located at 15 Eastern Ave., the
South Charleston side of the Patrick
St. Bridge, called Bownemont) until
about a year ago when he
retired because of ill health.
Service will be at 10 a. m. Sunday
at. the Mountain Mission with
Rev. Hobson Fisher officiating,
Burial will follow in the Hope
cemetery.
Surviving are his wile, Mrs.
Lyda Rose
, two step-daughters, Mrs
Delores Hughart
and Thelma Mullenax of
Charleston
three! brothers, Edward Rose of Charleston
Philip and Walter Rose of
Oceana; - two sisters, Mrs. Vergie
Wiseman
of Cooper's creek and
Mrs. Barbara Newcomb of Mcdowell County.
Mr. Rose was born Sept. 9, 1884
at Tazewell, Va., the son of Eli
and Mary Havens Rose. He was a
veteran of World War I.

cutting and weed eating.
