HARVEY, Leslie Maurice - July 1, 1920 - April 11, 2013. Leslie departed this life quietly, at home, at the age of 92. Beloved husband to Lillian (nee Bertram). Devoted father to Ron (Susan) of Calgary, Blane (Susan) of Fenelon Falls, and Bill (Deborah) of Sault Ste. Marie. Loving grandfather to Blane Leslie, Stephanie, Michelle, Mark, Michael, Derek and Johnathan, and great- grandfather to Darren, Emily, Sarah, and James. Dear brother to Norman and Lorraine Lewis. Predeceased by brother Leonard and sister Bernice (Savoie). Leslie will be lovingly remembered by his family. Born and raised in Rivers, Manitoba, Leslie joined the army in 1941 and served 25 years in The Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers (RCEME), retiring as a Captain. During WW2 Leslie served in Australia and New Guinea, deploying RADAR technologies. He met and married his Australian war bride Lillian in 1945. Leslie and Lillian enjoyed a loving 65 year marriage until 2010 when Lillian passed away. After retirement from the army, Leslie enjoyed a 17 year career as an electronics instructor at Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, fully retiring in 1984. Favourite retirement activities for Leslie and Lillian included, time with family, golfing, summers at their St. Joseph's Island cottage, and winter travels to Australia and the southern USA. The family is deeply grateful to the exceptionally caring and compassionate staff at Fenelon Court LTC., and Rest Assured Community Support Services. A celebration of Leslie's life will take place in Sault Ste. Marie at a later date: friends and family will be notified. Donations may be made in memory of Leslie to the Canadian Cancer Society.
