Mearl Clyde Metcalf, 85, of Morganton, passed away after a period of declining health on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care.
Mearl was born on July 31, 1932 in Burke County to the late Clyde Metcalf and Ollie Farr. He enjoyed many years working as a meat inspector for the North Carolina Agriculture.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ronald Metcalf.
He was survived by his son, Gary Metcalf and wife Kathy of Maiden; daughters, Cathy Elrod and husband Robert of Hickory, Betsy Shaffer, Clydia Seymour and husband Ronald of Harrisburg; along with ten grandchildren and 5 great children; special friends Denise Keller of Drexel and Mike Smith of Morganton.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing and a private family service at a later date.
