Parents: David Wamboldt and Emelie Betz Wambolt. They were "Volga Germans," that is, ethnic Germans who had lived in the Volga River region of Russia for many generations. Her mother (Emilie) died shortly after her birth and she acquired a stepmother (Margaret Mohr Wamboldt).

She married JOHN FREEHLING Jr. 11 Sep 1931 in Edgewater, Colorado.

1940 (*federal census), age 26, living in Denver, Colorado with her husband (John) and her 4 oldest children (John, Violet, Shirley, and Gerald), husband employed as a laborer for the WPA (road construction).

Amelia is buried in a family plot with her husband's parents (John Sr. and Catherine Freehling).
