Mr. Covert moved to Port Angeles in 1923 and worked here as a logger and operated a garage and radiator repair service prior to World War II. He entered the Navy, then served in England and the British Isles in preparation for D-Day. He was a US Navy carpenter’s mate, 1st class. After the war, he returned to Port Angeles and was an original member of the reserve police department, from which he retired in 1965. [courtesy of Darlene Jones]
