Howard G. Burghduff, 95, of Elyria, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a short illness. He was born May 31, 1915 in Auburn, New York and moved to Elyria in 1964.
He was employed at International Harvester in Auburn and at Nautalloy Products in Elyria as Purchasing Agent, retiring in 1977.
He enjoyed being with family and friends and the long walks he and his wife took daily. He was a member of the CCC's and the New York National Guard. He was a volunteer driver for The Blind Society, the former Elyria United Methodist Village, RSVP and the Meals on Wheels program.  He also volunteered with the Sr. Years Newspaper. He was a member of Jolly Sixties and also a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Diane and husband Dan Betz, Donna and husband Bill Gibbons; son-in-law, Bruce O'Hora; grandchildren, Debbie (John) Phillips, Amie (Mike) Betz-Frazier, Joshua Betz, Shawn Gibbons and Joseph Gibbons; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Margaret (nee Moody); parents, Howard and Lulu (nee Erhart) Burghduff; sons, Allen and David; daughter, Marlene; sisters, Dorothy Heieck and Elizabeth Mills; and by his great-granddaughter.
Funeral service will be 11A.M., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria. Rev. Beth McKee, Chaplain of the Wesleyan Village, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery in the chapel.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, February 9, 2011.
