Thomas John Przekwas Lansing, IL Thomas John Przekwas, age 73, of Lansing, IL, passed from this life to the next in the presence of his wife, children and other family on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, ending a 22 month battle with brain cancer. Tom is survived by Dorothy, his faithful wife of 49 years; his loving children, Mary Beth (Mike) Zielinski of Homer Glen, IL, Philip (Gayle) Perzek of Hinsdale, IL, Susan (Amy) Przekwas of Idledale, CO and Lisa (Joe) Zielinski of Lansing, IL; his cherished grandchildren Angela (Robert) Kinney, Andrew Zielinski, Rachel Perzek and Kevin Zielinski; his beloved sisters Joanne (Gene) Bajenski of Albion, IN and Rita (Joe) Erhardt of Munster, IN; his sister-in-law Margaret Lavendusky of Hobart, IN and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Josephine Przekwas of Chicago, IL and his grandson Ryan Zielinski, seven of Lansing, IL. The wake for family and friends of Tom will be held on Friday, March 16, 2007 from 2-9 p.m. at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. Funeral services followed by a mass will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 with a brief visitation commencing at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. A private internment is scheduled for Monday at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery in Joliet, IL. Tom was born on December 11, 1933 in Chicago where he attended St. Bronislava Catholic Grade School and Bowen High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and served his country in Korea. He was wed to Dorothy Malis in 1958, and they raised their family in south Chicago and later Lansing, IL. After a long vocation as a meat cutter, Tom and Dorothy went into the service station business in the 1980's, most recently operating the Shell station on Indianapolis, Blvd. in Highland, IN. Tom was a avid fisherman and a die-hard Sox fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and serving his family. Tom, however, will be most remembered for his kind heart and gentle way with all he knew. He was a man of great faith and strong character. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
