Ruth Lillian Aag, age 96 of Menahga, MN, peacefully slipped into eternity on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN.
      Ruth was born on October 18, 2017 to Julius and Hulda (Hovene) Martin on her parent’s farm near Osage, MN.  She attended country school near her home through the eighth grade.  As a young woman, Ruth worked as a waitress in her parent’s restaurant in Menahga.  She was united in marriage to Francis James Aag on February 13, 1943.  This union was blessed with three children:  Diane Marie, Denise Ruth and James Martin.  Ruth devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children.  She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her fabulous pork chop dinners, steaks, her Finnish flat breads and mojakka.  Her and her families’ culinary skills kept the Martin Restaurant in Menahga a popular dining spot as well.  After several years in Menahga, Ruth and Francis and their young family moved to St. Paul.  In 1951, they ventured to Culver City, CA where they resided until 1953 and they returned to Menahga.  Back in Menahga, Ruth dedicated herself to raising her three children; while, Francis found work in the Twin Cities.  In 1954, Ruth and the kids joined Francis in Bloomington where they had a bought a home.  They made their home there until 1973 when they moved to Richfield.  In 1986, she retired to Menahga where Ruth has lived right up until the time of her death.  Throughout her life, Ruth loved cooking, baking, gardening and shopping where she always displayed a keen eye for fashion. Ruth was an excellent dancer and a volunteer with the Menahga Senior Citizens.  
      She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Diane Hennessy of Edina, Denise (Gene) Christensen of Nevis and James (Nancy) Aag of Wadena; her beloved grandchildren: Timothy Hennessy of Eagan, Patrick Hennessy of Mound; Julie Grey of England and Grace;  four great grandchildren:  Alyssa, Brianna, Keegan and Shea;  her sister, Florence Orterstrom of White Bear Lake, MN and her brother, Duane Martin of Brooklyn Center, MN as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
      Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; one brother, Walter and four sisters: Esther, Gladys, Hazel and Beatrice.
      Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 18 at the First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with the Rev. James Hallaway officiating.  Visitation will begin at the church one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Menahga City Cemetery.
