YORK, Dale Edward Wentz, 90, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Joan K. (Coleman) Wentz and preceded in death by a companion.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service.
Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Wentz was born in York on February 3, 1927, the son of the late Charles Edward and Esther Mae (Gruver) Wentz.
He was the owner and operator of Gruver's Bakery in York.
Mr. Wentz was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791, The York Moose Lodge, and Viking Athletic Association. He was an avid boater, and enjoyed snowmobiling, roller skating and dancing.
He served in the U.S. Army in WWII.
Mr. Wentz leaves three sons, Timothy E. Wentz, Robert W. Wentz, and David A. Wentz; two daughters, Nancy J. Myers and Judith A. Myers; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Zerbe; and his number one fur baby, Benji.
