Frances, daughter of James and Marjorie Burgess, was born June 4, 1943, in Charleston and was a lifelong resident of St. Albans.
She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many. She was a dedicated employee of Verizon, formerly C&P and Bell Atlantic, with 43 years of service. She took great pride and comfort in her membership at Gateway Church of Christ and was also a member of St. Albans Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Edwin Holmes; her sons, Barry of New York and Nicholas of St. Albans; her brother, John Burgess, his wife, Joyce, and their three sons, Scott, Justin, and Jeremy, of Teays Valley.
