Wilbur E. “Bud” Collins, 94, a resident of Rocky Grove, died peacefully at 1:50 AM Saturday, November 18, 2017, in Sugarcreek Station; following declining health.

He was born July 15, 1923, in Franklin, a beloved son of the late: Lester and Alice Perrine Collins.

Wilbur graduated in 1941 from Franklin High School, where he played in the band.

He had worked at the former McKissick Garage on Liberty Street in Franklin for more than 35 years. He retired from Venango County as a corrections officer, following 10 years of service.

He was married in June of 1948 to the former Helen Tarr, who survives.

He enjoyed bowling, boating, water skiing and camping with his family as his health permitted.

Mr. Collins especially enjoyed woodworking and building miniature dollhouses, which he gave to family and friends. He had been an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) since 1964.

In addition to his beloved wife of 69 years, he is survived by a daughter, Alice Walkowski and her husband John “Butch” and by two grandchildren: Heather Fennick and her husband Sean and Scot Walkowski and his wife Heather and five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Ethan and Cody Walkowski, Olivia and Beau Fennick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Della Carter and husband Russell, Eileen Piel and husband Ralph and by a brother, Gene Collins and wife Caroline and by an infant brother; as well as his beloved dog, “Princess”.

Friends may call Monday 4-7 PM at the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Brad Riddle of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church of Franklin, officiating.

Private interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery.
