Moses Leonard Alberts was the ninth of twelve children born to James Earl Alberts and Phalby Sara Cooper. He was raised in Lee County on his family's peanut farm. He and his brothers, Fred, James Jr., Chatman, Morty Buster, Dan, Henry, and Amos and their sisters Mary, Ursula, Minerva, and Priscilla all helped with the chores around the farm. The Alberts' peanuts and peanut brittle were famous in the surrounding communities. In 1942 he joined the US Army and served in WWII. He married Robbie Lee Moore in Lee County on July 30th, 1945. Eight children were born to this union. Ruthie Mae, Willie Mae, James Earl, Johnny Lee, David Lee, Jo Ann, Samuel Leon, and Robbie Marie all grew up in the same area of Lee county as thier father. This marriage ended in divorce on September 23, 1977. Moses married Sue N Prouge on January 31, 1980. The couple did not have any children together. They made their home in Amarillo. At the time of his death he had been an Amarillo resident for more than 35 years. Moses Alberts had been employed as an auto mechanic by Billy's Boat Ramp for 35 years. He was a member of North Heights Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his his baby girl Ruthie Mae, his son David Lee and his former wife Robbie Lee; also preceeding him in death were his parents James Earl Sr. and Phalby Sara Alberts and his brothers Fred, Dan, Henry, Morty Buster and James Earl Jr. Also preceding him were his sisters Mary, Ursula, Minerva, and Priscilla (Sissy). He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Sue; four sons, James Earl Alberts of Lincoln and Johnny Lee Alberts and Samuel Leon Alberts, both of Denver; four daughters, Jo Ann Alberts of San Bernardino, Calif., and Mae Coleman and Robbie Marie Alberts, both of Denver and 17 grandchildren, brothers, sisters, neices, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
