Funeral service for Lillie Mae Ashford will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 24, 2017, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate.
Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery Mausoleum in Basile under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder Thursday, November 23, 2017, from 3-9 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning at 8 a.m. Lillie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Kelly, for 67 years until his passing in October of 2014. She was a devout Catholic and woman of strong faith. She touched many lives through making rosaries that were brought to missionary countries. Lillie was very active in Catholic Daughters Association and Ladies Altar Society. She was a Regent of Catholic Daughters for two terms. She volunteered at a mental health clinic in Kinder for many years. Lillie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and sewing. She loved to cook and bake. Her family never left her house hungry. Lillie enjoyed taking care of people. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to spoil her grandchildren. She was a great woman and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish Lillies memory include her son, Cecil Ashford and wife, Theresa, of Kinder; her daughter, Marla Ashford Goudeau, of Moss Bluff; sister, Joyce Snowden and husband, Norman, of Hickory, MS; four grandchildren, Tonya Stillwell and husband, Jeremy, of Moss Bluff, Jason Ashford and wife, Sara, of Memphis, TN, Elizabeth Lyons and husband, Scott, of Lake Charles, and Mandy Ashford of Lake Charles; and four great-grandchildren, Emily and Abby Stillwell, Wes and Lucy Lyons; also, much loved sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Lillie is preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Dorcille Bellon; husband, Kelly Ashford; six brothers, Dewey, Addison, Kelson, Paul, Hadley, and Jesse Bellon; and two sisters, Aniece Vidrine and Lucy Janisse.
