Leo Artherton, 75, of Caney died as a result of an automobile accident in Lebanon, Mo., on Saturday, May 9. He was born Aug. 24, 1905 west of Caney to Charles and Anna (Fielding) Artherton.
Mr. Artherton operated a grocery store and laundry, and had lived in Peru, Tyro, Caney, Dallas, Tex., Missouri and Indiana until moving back to Caney. He was a member of the Olden Baptist church in Missouri.
Mr. Artherton is survived by four sons, Charles and Robert of Caney, Gary of Osawatomie and Richard of Owasso, Okla; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-granchilden; one sister, Olevia Morgan of Caney; two brothers, Tom of Sun City, Ariz., and Roy of Arkansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Graves Memorial chapel in Caney with the Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Peru cemetery with the Graves Funeral Home in charge of arrangements...
