Lena is the daughter of Lee Simmons and Lillie Haskel. She married John Calvin McMichael on April 15, 1945 in Dodge City, Kansas. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversay before her death. In 1952 they moved to Olathe where Lena worked for the Olathe Potato growers. She is survived by her husband,three daughters: Sharon and husband Mark Hollenbeck, Jeanie and husband Charley Fobare, and Barbara and Husband Dave Koll. Lena loved music and could play the fiddle, organ and guitar by ear. In addition to her great love for music her family was very important to her and she also enjoyed flowrs, gardening, sewing and crafts.
