Barbara Mae (Dickson) Carter, 75, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at York Hospital. Barbara was the loving wife of Jerome K. Carter with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage. Barbara was born in York on August 3, 1942 to the late Willie H. Dickson and the late Louise Bryant Sexton
Barbara attended William Penn Sr. High School and retired from York Hospital after 28 years as a Nursing Assistant. Barbara enjoyed cooking, baking, playing Bingo and being a Care Provider with Bell Socialization for 10 years, as well as a Crossing Guard for York City Schools.
Additionally, Barbara was Daughter Ruler of Queen Esther Temple106 and Past Worthy Matron, Bathsheba Chapter 16 Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her step-father George J Sexton ; a daughter Yvonne Carter ; a brother Lawrence Dickson and her in-laws Willie & Ertha House.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, a son, 2 daughters, a brother, 2 sisters, 2 brother-in-law’s, 2 sister-in-law’s, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
