Practiced Law and was elected District Attorney for Wyoming County in Nov. 1850. Reelected in Nov. 1868. In Nov. 1855 he was elected County Judge for 4 years and reelected in 1859 and again in 1863. Member of the Presbyterian church. Married 1st wife, Jane O. Ives and had 3 children: Martha Jane, Catharine, and Anna Laura. 2nd wife was Helen Buxton, Daughter of Channcey C. Buxton. Helen had 1 daughter Helen Elizabeth. Married 3rd wife, Cordelia Shepard.
