Irene Knight, 73, of 2626 George St., formerly of Royal Center, died at 8:15 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Royal Center to Benjamin and Katherine Zehr Kirk. She was married Aug. 10, 1935, in Auburn to Charles Knight, who died Feb. 15, 1949. She retired in 1979 from Pioneer High School, where she had been head dietitian. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are a son, Wayne E., Logansport; a daughter, Ellen Brewer, Frankfort; a stepson, Richard Knight, Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepdaughter, Geraldine Coleman, Baltimore, Md.; a brother, John Aebi, Monon; a sister, Freida Sturdivant, Rt. 1, Twelve Mile; five grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one great grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren. A stepson preceded in death.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Horace Smith and the Rev. Lowell Yeatts officiating. Burial will be in Buck Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home, and one hour before the services Saturday in the church. Nazarene or Cass County Heart Association.
