Zolabell Arthur Bland, 90, of Uniontown, Pa., died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in the Uniontown Golden Living Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Webster Springs, W.Va., October 18, 1916, the daughter of the late Adam and Gay Ashe Arthur.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John M. Bland in 1988, two brothers, Bazil Arthur and Herbert Arthur, and a sister, Elphra Arthur Noble.

After Zoe graduated from Webster Springs High School, she attended and graduated from Fairmont State Teachers College.

Zoe taught several years in various one-room schools in West Virginia.

She was very active in the Uniontown Asbury United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and helped with the youth groups. She participated in various church organizations. Zoe was a volunteer at the Uniontown Hospital for over thirty years.

She will be sadly missed for the love she shared with family and friends, and for her special ability to encourage youth.

Zoe is survived by her daughter Cynara Bland of Bethel Park, Pa.; her son, John M. Bland, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn Sue of Fredericksburg, Va.; her granddaughter, Karen Elizabeth Bland of Conway, S.C.; and her grandsons: Geoffrey Aren Bland of King George, Va., and John Morris Bland III and his wife, Sarah Margaret Bland and their two children: John Morris Bland IV, and Sarah Marilyn Bland of Mechanicsville, Va. Also surviving is her brother, Shelton Arthur of Akron, Ohio; her sisters: Vesta Arthur of Fort Smith, Ariz., and Zetta Hamrick and her husband, Dana of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street in Uniontown where the family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2007, from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Saturday, March 17, 2007, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of her life at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Thomas Brown officiating. Interment will follow the service in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.

The family suggest contributions be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 20 Dunbar Street, Uniontown, Pa., 15401.
