Bill, as he was known by friends and family, was born on Feb. 26, 1927, in McAlester, Okla., to David Lee Burwell and Lucy Bell Thomason Burwell.
Bill married Roberta Jane Gann in 1948, in Sherman, Texas. They were happily married for 65 years. He accepted God’s gift of salvation and became a Christ follower in 1949. His priorities in order were God, his marriage, his family and work. He served as a deacon in the church and was proud of being a Southern Baptist.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a medical technician. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a supply technician. After serving in the military, he was employed in civil service at Tinker Air Force Base until he retired in August of 1981 as a warehouse supervisor.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie, his parents, two brothers; Orbra and Walter and one sister, Opal.
He is survived by his sons Mike Burwell of Lone Oak, Texas and Roger Burwell of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Jake, Adam, Christina and Paul plus a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
