Age 74, of Worcester passed away at home on Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 from complications of congestive heart disease.

Born on July 23, 1936, in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Mastromatteo who came to this country from Italy and Dora (Manna) Mastromatteo. As a child, Margaret was educated at Venerini Academy and as an adult, she was self-taught in knowing how to deal with the lessons of life.

She was happiest when surrounded by her family. Margaret frequently reminded her children regularly of the importance of family sticking together and believed strongly that families are joined for life and should be there for each other always.

Margaret is survived by her husband and love of her life for the past 55 years, James H. “Jimmy” Lloyd, Sr; her four daughters, Peggie Clen and husband Terry of Harwichport, Patty Martin and husband Scott of Dennisport, Doreen DeSimone and husband Dan of South Windsor, CT, Lisa Smith and husband John of Worcester; three sons, James Lloyd Jr. and his wife Sharon of Worcester, Joseph Lloyd and his wife Molly of Auburn and John Lloyd of Holden; She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren Joshua and Meghan Smith of Worcester, Ashley Martin of Boston, Kayla and Nick Lloyd of Worcester, Jenna, Hannah and Abby Lloyd of Auburn, Danny and Dillon DeSimone of South Windsor CT, and Jonathan, McKenzie, Kiana, Keegan, Camdyn and Hayden Lloyd of Holden, as well as her great-grandaughter, Tiana Smith of Worcester.

Also survived by her sister, Josephine Rafferty of Worcester, wife of the late Edward Rafferty; and beloved brother, Nicholas Mastromatteo and his wife Rose of Worcester and her sisters-in-law, Madeline Mastromatteo, wife of her deceased brother Lawrence Mastromatteo and Nicholina Mastromatteo, wife of her deceased brother Frank Mastromatteo.

Along with Lawrence and Frank, Margaret’s deceased siblings include Michael Mastromatteo, Nancy Inangelo and Mary Mastromatteo who meant the world to her. She also leaves behind many neices and nephews who will always remember their Auntie Margaret.

After her children were grown, Margaret enjoyed several years of employment at the Coffee Mug Restaurant in Auburn, volunteering her time helping with bingo at several area churches, going to Foxwoods and entertaining her large family whenever she had the opportunity especially on Christmas Eve, when she hosted an open house for all to attend. She was the ardent spectator at all of her children’s sporting events, plays and recitals and with her husband Jimmy shared a fondness for the Red Sox and music of all genres, especially country and delighted whenever her husband Jimmy sang to her.
