He enlisted in the Army on March 28, 1942 in Syracuse, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in metal working and also as Single, without dependents.
He attended basic training as a clerk Typist at Camp Croft, North Carolina.
He was then transferred to the 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Benning, Georgia.
In April 1943, during the Italian Campaign and the invasion of Sicily and Italy, he made two combat jumps.
Glen was "Killed In Action" in Naples, Italy as the result of an explosion in a barracks that was caused by ammunition being incorrectly stored by the previous engineer unit that had been in that barracks.
Interment was in a military cemetery in Italy with his remains being transported home for final burial in his families plot.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.
