Mr. John William “Bill” Fix, age 81, of Powder Springs passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, December 3rd at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens.
Bill was born November 4, 1936 at Fort McPherson, raised in Atlanta, and later moved to Cobb County. After graduating from Southwest High School, he joined the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Tripoli, Africa, where he worked in Muselina’s Hangar repairing airplane engines. After returning home, he attended Southern Tech and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from the State of Georgia’s Department of Safety Engineering in 2000. He enjoyed traveling, gospel music concerts, spending time with family and friends, and until his illness he was active in many church activities.
He was the son of the late Glen and Mabel Fix. Survivors include his wife, Myrlis Brumbelow Fix; sons, Keith Fix, Orlando, FL, Scott and friend Shannon, Marietta, GA and Mark (Zyria) Fix, Hoschton, GA; 3 grandchildren, Chris, Ellen and Jon, all of Marietta; sister, Eva Miller, Athens, GA; stepdaughter, Melinda (Lloyd) Paris, Powder Springs, GA and stepson, Tommy (Angie) Westbrook, Powder Springs, GA; step grandchildren, Shane Westbrook and Tara Kaplan, both of Powder Springs, GA, and Tiffany (Pope) Davis; 4 great grandchildren, Seth Kaplan, Aiden Kaplan, Paisley Kaplan and Collier Davis, and a soon to be arriving great granddaughter, Ella Davis; many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also preceded in death by a step grandson, Trent Paris.
