Anne was born in Ancon in the Panama Canal Zone, where her father, an Army officer, was stationed. She traveled extensively with her family in the U.S. and abroad, where she lived in France and Germany. She attended school in Mendocino, and graduated from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley in 1963. Anne resided in Mendocino for much of the last forty years of her life.
Although developmentally disadvantaged from birth, she maintained an active interest in reading and art. After operating "Anne's Pre-Owned Books" in Mendocino, she worked in the Fort Bragg Library. During later years she was involved with various artistic activities.
