She was born on February 16, 1935, in Sidney, Texas, to Walter and Faye (Vancleve) Smith. On November 1, 1952, she was united in marriage to Clarence Evett in Sidney. Nelda was a devoted wife and mother and spent 65 years and 28 days making a home for her husband and family. She was a member of Sidney Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lenell Sliger; parents, Walter and Faye Smith; sisters, Lavern Ellis and Beatrice Gautier; and brothers, Walker Smith and Gayland Smith.
