She was the daughter of Edward James Carr and Margaret L. Allison Carr who married in 1875.
Sometime between 1883 and 1900 her parents divorced or separated.
Her mother lists herself as a widow in the 1900 City Directory, but Edward Carr is found on the 1900 Census in Baltimore, Maryland.
On December 6, 1899 as Gracie May Carr, she married Andrew Clinton Plant Jr. in the District of Columbia.
They were the parents of two children.

Gracie M. Plant died on Sunday, April 1, 1962. She was a resident of 2326 1st Street Northwest. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew C. Plant. Survivors included Alvin L. Plant and Althea L. Plant. Services were held at the W.K. Huntemann Funeral Home at 5732 Georgia Avenue Northwest. Interment was at Rock Creek Cemetery.
