Virla Selman, age 78, of Seagraves went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, March 21, 2007 in Lubbock. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the First Assembly of God Church in Seagraves. Rev. L.D. Hinson will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Mountain Time at the Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, N.M.

Mrs. Selman was born on Oct. 27, 1928 to Raphiel Curtis Norris and Rosa Bell Brooks in Lubbock County.

On Oct. 7, 1944 she married Alva M. Selman. They graduated as Ordained Ministers from L.I.F.E Bible College in Los Angeles, Calif. in 1955. They built and pastored the first Foursquare Gospel Church in Roswell, N. M. Later she owned and operated Virla's Beauty Shop in Seagraves for about 25 years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Seagraves.

Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Rita Langehennig and husband Lonny of Lubbock; one brother, Delbert Norris and wife Nona Lee of Little Rock, Ark. She had four grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alva; one daughter, Ronda Bittle; one brother; and five sisters.

Personal Services are being provided by Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors of Seagraves.
