Johnny was born in Anderson Co, TX to John Henry and Minnie Alice Singletary Carroll. He is buried beside his mother. His father is buried in Crawford Cemetery. For many years he lived in Houston where he was self-employed as an electric motor winder. He was a member of the Gray Lodge in Houston and the Order of the Eastern Star. Johnny married Olene Eloise Samford in Houston on 11 April 1941. They had one child. He died at the age of 3 months.
