She was born on January 25th, 1950 in Louisville, the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Martha Elizabeth (Bates) Geary. Marcella played in 5 movies, Medium Cook, American Revolution 1 & 2, Women in Revolt and The Grapes of Wrath. She also was the founding leader of the Young Patriot's Organization which was a part of the People's Planning Coalition and she marched with Martin Luther King fighting for civil rights. The book, "We are the People" was written about her. Marcella loved her grandchildren, flea marketing and traveling. She was an Evangelist and Jesus was her number 1. She was also a free spirit.
Marcella is survived by her son, Johnathon "John" McGinnis of Big Clifty; 2 daughters, Jacqueline "Sam" Hirsch of Paynesville and Lorice "Reesee Cup" Lynn Montes of Hardinsburg; 2 grandsons, John Dylan Ray Hirsch of Paynesville and River McGinnis of Big Clifty; 6 granddaughters, Starlet Dawn McGinnis and Madison Lynn McGinnis both of Big Clifty, Joanna N. Santillana of Flaherty, Crystal Lynn Hilley of Hardinsburg, Priscella Ann Hirsch and Cynthia Hailey Hirsch both of Paynesville; 5 great-grandchildren, Elijah Conner Hilley, Wayland Cole Hilley, Dalton Sebastian Hilley, Dallas George Murphy and Penelope Ann Murphy and 2 brothers, Daniel Carl Geary of Beaver Dam and John Paul Geary of Rineyville. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Priscella "Pebbles" Ann Santillana, one sister, Priscella Ann Geary and 5 brothers, Henry Crowe, Herbie Geary, Eddie Geary, Brian Stephen "Real Unc" Geary and Frank Jackson Geary.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 22nd at 1:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro John McGinnis will be officiating. Burial will be in the Stewart Cemetery.
