Gene Arlan Block Jr., 34 of Kirbyville was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred about 2:35 p.m. Sunday, a Texas Department of Public Safety dispatcher said.
Jackie Lea Leonard, 26, of Vidor suffered internal injuries. She remained in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday night, officials said.
The train was traveling east on the railroad tracks off Old Spanish Trail just south of Vidor city limits when it struck the parked 1993 Ford pickup, the dispatcher said.
The train sounded its whistle several times and applied its emergency brake but was unable to avoid the collision, she said.
Troopers still were investigating the accident Sunday, the dispatcher said.
Investigators do not know why the truck was parked on the train tracks, she said.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at E. E. Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Antioch Cemetery.
A native of Austin, he lived in the Kirbyville and Buna area most of his life and was employed with Temple-Inland in Evadale.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Broom Block of Kirbyville; daughter, Bonnie Block of Kirbyville; father, Gene Arlan Block Sr. of Buna; mother, Loretta Block of Pasadena; grandmother, Elanore Snell of Pasadena; brother, Barry Block of Pasadena; and sister, Carrie Block Cowart of Wildwood.
