She was born August 24, 1934 in Nelson County. She formerly worked as a dietician at the Loretto Motherhouse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Otho "Bud" Newton; one infant son, Charles Otho Newton Jr.; her parents, Thomas Leslie Clark Sr. and Mary Roxie Sims Clark; four brothers, Junior, Wally, Frank and Joe Clark.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Lawson (James) of Cox's Creek and Lisa Hutchins (Doug) of Saint Francis; nine sons, Roger Newton, Timmy Newton (Arlene) and Keith Newton (Lisa) all of Springfield, Ricky Newton (Donna), Calvin Newton, Terry Newton and Dale Newton (Susan) all of Loretto, Les Newton and Rob Newton both of Louisville; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto. Rev. Bryan Lamberson will preside. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
