HELEN ROSALIE EMERICK STEVENS, 82, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro. Born March 24, 1935, in Barrelville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Beulah Elizabeth Michaels Emerick. She was the loving wife, of more than seven years, to Richard W. Stevens of Hagerstown.

She was employed by Washington County Health Department for 11 years. She was employed as housekeeper at Christ Reformed Church and the bank at Fort Detrick. She was a cashier and part-time bookkeeper for Grand Union Food Stores, was the sales and the unit sales controller for both JCPenney and Montgomery Ward. Helen was a life member of Local DAV auxiliary and an auxiliary member of the Funkstown American Legion.

In addition to her husband, Richard "Pops," Helen is survived by her children and stepchildren, Beverly A. Gillette, Kimberly S. Christo, Robert R. Kline, Michael L. Kline, Raymond L. Puglisi, LeRoy C. House Jr., Patricia Hornbaker, James W. Stevens and Sandra L. Puglisi; many grandchildren, stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and sister, Barbra J. Claggett.

She was preceded in death by four husbands, Dale B. Ames, Robert L. Kline, Anthony S. Puglisi and LeRoy C. House Sr.; son, Anthony S. Puglisi Jr.; daughter, Carol J. Ames; stepdaughter, Debra K. Massie; and brothers, William D. Emerick and Charles R. Emerick.

Funeral services will be held at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

Boonsboro -- ANTHONY SANTO PUGLISI, SR., 61, of Rt. 2, died at the Washington County Hospital Wednesday. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of Louis and Angelenia Francluska Puglisi.

Formerly employed by the Giant Food Co. in Washington, DC, and later by Grand Union, he was presently employed at Fort Detrick in Frederick. He was a veteran of WWII and had served with the Ninth Infantry Division. He attended the Mt. Lena United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Dixon Troxell Post 211 and the American Legion of Funkstown.

He is survived by his wife, Helen R. Emerick Puglisi; two daughters, Sandra Lee Puglisi and Kimberly Sue Puglisa, both of Forestville, Md.; two sons, Anthony S. Jr. and Raymond I. Puglisi, both at home; two step-daughters, Beverly Jillette, Forestville; and Carol Jean Ames, Fairfax, Va.; two step-sons, Robert and Michael Kline, both of Cumberland; sister, Mary Squires, Falls Church, Va.; two brothers, Albert I. Puglisi, Kennasaw, Ga.; and Joseph Puglisa, North Carolina; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at the Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. Burial in Boonsboro Cemetery.
