Paul Edward Knapp, 61, Auburndale, Polk County, Florida died Sunday, December 10th, 2017. He was born December 8th, 1956 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois, the only son of Glenn and Helen Gertrude (Bruckner) Knapp.
He attended and graduated from Buckbee Middle School and East High in Rockford, Illinois. He later earned his A.B. degree and worked, first, as a transmission specialist for his dad's business and then as a security guard, a restorative aide and a medical van driver for a local nursing home. In his later years he was a self employed taxi driver for the disabled, in Cedar County, Missouri.
Paul married Cheryl Lynn Shomaker in 1978 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. This marriage produced 5 children. They divorced and in 2005 he married Barbara Ann Berney. In 2007, he divorced and married Roxana Sewell. They divorced in 2008.
He was a Missionary Baptist and regularly attended church in Stockton and Springfield, often driving others to church when they were not able to do so for themselves. He always had a smile and was always willing to help anyone who needed help. Paul had many interests among them fishing, photography, going for scenic drives, eating at restaurants, going to yard sales and being with his family.
Paul lived with and helped his 90 year old father in El Dorado Springs, Cedar County, Missouri until November 9, 2017 when their home burned to the ground. His father suffered a stroke and Paul went to live near his daughter in Auburndale, Florida where he died shortly afterwards.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents and is survived by his father, Glenn Knapp, his uncle Harold Knapp, an aunt Lula Norris Knapp, children: Michael Justin (Melissa) Knapp, Joel Austin (Tawnwy) Knapp, Jordan Alexander Knapp, Desiree Noelle (Brandon) Murray, and Aaron Nathaniel Knapp. He is also survived by grandchildren Alyssa, Adrianna, Gavin, Faith and Corbin Knapp and several cousins.
He was cremated and after a private service, his ashes were spread at Lake Ariana, Auburndale, Polk Co., Florida.
