Howard Knight was involved with his family business of Knight Publishing and the various additions to that company in Providence, Rhode Island for the duration of his lifetime. The Quintessential donation to America was his front line involvement with introduction and development of the Weimaraner Breed in America. In 1928 Howard met a German named Fritz Grossman visiting New Jersey. Exchange of information of the strictly German owned Weimaraner breed and the club that controlled the breed inspired Howard. Rules of the German Weimaraner Club forebode the ownership of Non European peoples. No dogs were to be exported to the USA. After much exchange of affairs, in 1929 Howard was the only person in the United States to own a Sire and Bitch of that breed on US soil. Sabotage of the USA bound dogs was discovered and both proved to be sterile upon arrival to the US. Howard pursued to gain another after experiencing the wealth of hunting capabilities of the breed. Mars aus der Wulfsriede arrived in the USA. Soon after, 2 females Weimaraner's arrived. Aura von Gailberg and Dorle v. Schwarsen. All as a gift from the German Club after receiving notice of the sabotage.
