Becky A. Breier died December 13, 2017, in her Oregon, Ohio, home two days before her 63rd birthday. Her passing was peaceful, and she was surrounded by her family. Becky was born in Toledo, Ohio, on December 15, 1954, to Melvin and Pauline Kimple. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1972 and earned a business degree in finance from the University of Toledo. She completed the prestigious American Bankers Association's Graduate Trust School program at Northwestern University.

In 1978, Becky joined the former Toledo Trust Company's auditing department. In 1981, she moved to the trust department, rising to assistant vice president of what had become Key Bank. Becky was hired in a similar position at the former Mid-American National Bank Trust in 1988. Mid-Am became Sky Bank and then Huntington National Bank, but Becky remained as a trust officer, advancing to vice president in the bank's Wealth and Investment Management department.

On October 8, 1988, Becky married Greg Breier, of Oregon, Ohio. They raised two children, Sarah and Nicholas.

For more than three decades Becky was active in all facets of the area's Read for Literacy program and was a former board chair. She was the current president of the Toledo Estate Planning Council. For 12 years Becky was treasurer of the YMCA's gymnastics program, the Gymcats, and was an integral part of two national championships hosted by the YMCA of Greater Toledo. She was the former treasurer of Clay High School's Limelighters. For many years, Becky joined close friends in the Nuts and Bolts book club and served as secretary of her weekly golf league. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, in Oregon.

Becky was well-known for her methodical approach to everything she did, whether wrapping or opening gifts, completing reports, dressing for her day and, of course, her legendary…..golf…..swing. "Don't rush me," was her pet response to critics. The upside was she never had to do anything twice because it was done right the first time. Her attention to detail and thoroughness was especially prized by her many trust account clients, a number of whom called on her at home during her illness because they so respected her counsel.

Becky's passion for Read for Literacy, particularly her interaction with her students, underscored her empathetic nature. As her son Nick said: "She put a lot of herself into other people." As a mother, Becky was active in all of her children's activities, supporting them at every turn. She encouraged them to be independent and to seek a future that matched their interests. If you asked her, Becky would tell you she especially loved Sunday family dinners, spring break vacations at the TradeWinds in Saint Petersburg Beach, in Florida, time with family in Pompano Beach, summer holiday weekends at Round Lake, girl trips to Chicago and New York, chocolate, shopping at the shoe department at Nordstroms (after all, she was a size 4), reading the Wall Street Journal and playing family games, especially contract rummy. There was no quit in Becky, no matter the endeavor. That conviction held true throughout her illness.

Becky was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Kimple. Surviving are: her husband, Greg; a daughter, Sarah; a son, Nicholas; her father, Melvin; and a sister, Julie (Norm and Noah) Shapiro.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church, 3620 Heatherdowns Boulevard, Toledo. Burial will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions made to the medical fund for Becky's nephew, Zane Breier, as he deals with uninsured expenses in treating his Scleroderma. You can find the link at bit.ly/2j2viGn or search Zane Breier on generosity.com. Becky supported Read for Literacy, and contributions there would also be appreciated. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Wesolowski, Chandler, Brooke and Amber, of the James Comprehensive Cancer Center at Ohio State University, and Liz.
