Eleanor Ann Coit Favrot died surrounded by her family on December 14, 2017. A long-time resident of Port Allen, LA she was in her beloved home where she nurtured and cared for her eleven children, all of whom recently celebrated her 95th birthday.

Born in Enterprise, MS in 1922 to Albert B. Coit, Jr. and Allie Williams Coit, her family moved to Tensas Parish, LA in 1924.

She graduated at the age of 16 from Newellton High School as valedictorian and then from Louisiana State University with a degree in Home Economics. While still an undergraduate, she accepted a teaching position at Port Allen High School and settled in Port Allen.

She married Paul D. Favrot in 1946, a marriage that lasted 50 years.

Her life was focused on her family, providing, by example, a spirit of loving, selfless giving. Her “favorite child” was the one who needed her the most at the time. Her circle was wide enough to include friends and neighbors, all of whom were welcome into her home where there was always room for one more.

She was a member of the West Baton Rouge Presbyterian Church, where she served on various ministry teams and in leadership roles. She also served as a long-time volunteer at the West Baton Rouge Parish Museum.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert B., Jr. and Allie Coit; her husband, Paul D. Favrot; her sister, Helen Ray Parker; and her brother, Albert B. Coit, III.

She is survived by her brother Harry Williams Coit and by her children and their spouses Don and Marie Favrot, Eleanor and Mike Stevens, Laura and Skip Rhorer, Jane Favrot, Richard Favrot and Tracy Yoes, Katherine and Bob Laveck, Sarah and Ed Aucoin, John and Dana Favrot, Will and Dulce Favrot, Claude and Fran Favrot, Ben and Denise Favrot. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the West Baton Rouge Presbyterian Church, 640 Florida Avenue in Port Allen on Sunday, December 17, 5-9 pm and Monday, December 18, 9-11 am. The funeral, also at West Baton Rouge Presbyterian Church, will be on Monday, December 18 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA.
