Some have Johann Adam Kress' death date as 1845 instead of 1847. But with the proof that his will was signed and sealed July 2, 1847 and probated October 20, 1847. I have gone with the death date of August 1, 1847.

Fishbuck President Judge of the tenth Judicial circuit of the State of Ohio, Henry Martin, John Kay and Isaac Carey Associate Judges of the court of common pleas in and for said county, on the 20th day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Forty seven-being the Seventy Second year of the Independence of the United State and of the State of Ohio the forty fifth.
Brown county ss. Be it remembered that on this day that is to say the 20th day of October of the term of October A.D. 1847 "The last Will and Testament of Adam Kress was produced in open court and duly proven by the oaths of A. N. Nevin & J. P. Biehn, subscribing witnessed thereto-which will together with the proof was ordered to be recorded" & are in the words and figured following to wit- (Will) "In the name of the Benevolent Father of all-I John A. Kress, of Washington township Brown County Ohio do make and publish this my last Will and Testament: Item 1st I give and devise to my beloved wife, in lieu of her dower, the Farm on which we now reside situate in
Washington township Brown county Ohio containing about one hundred and twenty three acres, while she remains my widow, and all the stock, house hold goods, furniture, provisions and other goods and chattels which may be thereon at the time of my decease, as long as she remains my widow, as aforesaid; she however selling so much thereof as may be sufficient to pay my just debts. At the marriage or death of my said wife The real estate aforesaid and such part of the said personal property, or the proceeds thereof, as may there remain unconsumed & unexpended, I give and devise to my children, and to my aforesaid wife's sons Peter Schneder and Valentine Schneder, each one of the aforesaid heirs an equal share. If however, either of the aforesaid children should die before the marriage or decease of my said wife, burying no children at the marriage or decease of my said wife, then I devise and bequeath that the aforesaid share of such heir or heirs, shall be equally divided among all of the remaining heirs. Then 2nd I do here by nominate and appoint my said wife executor of this my last Will and testament _ hereby authorising and empowering her to compromise, adjust, release & discharge, in such manner as she may deem proper, the debts & claims due me: I do also empower and authorize her, if it shall become necessary in order to pay my debts, to sell at private sale, or in such manner and upon such terms of credit, or otherwise, as she may think proper, all, or any part of my real estate; and deeds to purchasers to execute acknowledge and deliver in fee simple.
