On December 17, 2017, Michael D. "Mike" Evans went to be with his Lord and Savior. Mike was born on October 23, 1946 in Columbus, Missouri and was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He attended Oklahoma State University from 1965-1969 and was a member of the OSU track team. After graduating from OSU, Mike joined the Army National Guard. He later attended law school at the University of Oklahoma School of Law, graduating in 1973.

Mike married Vonnie Evans on May 24, 1969. After graduating from law school, Mike and Vonnie moved to Frederick, Oklahoma in 1973 and found their forever home. Mike was an active member in his community, was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Frederick and was loved by so many. Over the years, Mike practiced law as an Assistant District Attorney, as a general practitioner at the law office of Massad, Evans & Kent, P.L.L.C., as the Administrator of the Courts for the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, and most recently, worked with his son-in-law, Clint Whitworth, at the law office of Whitworth, Wilson & Evans, P.L.L.C.

Mike was known as a person who loved the Lord, loved his family and friends, loved to run, loved his work, loved his community, and certainly loved his Dr. Pepper. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, DeVere and Nadine Evans.

He is survived by his wife, Vonnie Evans, his daughters, Kay Evans Thompson and her husband, Bobby Thompson, and Kelly Evans Whitworth and her husband, Clint Whitworth; his grandchildren, Cody Thompson, Ryan Cosby, Logan Thompson, Tanner Thompson, Jack Whitworth and Ben Whitworth. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Evans.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, 201 East Grand, Frederick, Oklahoma with Rev. Charles Wyatt and Rev. Eddie Whitworth officiating. Private family burial will be in the Carney Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.
