It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Pauline Slowski on December 16, 2017 at the age of 95 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville. Pauline Kitchen was born December 1, 1922 to John and Ann Kitchen in the Burgis District. She attended Poplar Springs School to the age of 14 when she passed to Grade 10. On October 28, 1945 Pauline married Peter Slowski and the couple purchased land in the Donwell District. In later years they purchased additional land and moved to the Gorlitz District, along number 9 highway. Pauline wanted running water and eventually she got her wish. She also wanted a house full of children. In 1948 the couple welcomed their first child, Richard and in 1962 they welcomed their girl Shirley. Pauline loved children and was overjoyed to be blessed with five grandchildren. Baba loved it when they visited the farm. Baba always had yummy treats such as her famous donuts. They farmed until 1990 and in 1995 they moved to Yorkton. As the grandchildren grew up and had families of their own, Pauline was blessed by the arrival of seven great-grandchildren. Pauline moved to Queen Elizabeth court in 2008. In 2017 Pauline moved to St. Paul Nursing Home in Melville. Pauline was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Donwell West for over 60 years. She sang in the church choir and enjoyed carolling at Christmas. She volunteered in the community and catering for many weddings. Pauline and Peter attended most community and church events. Pauline and Peter were often seen walking down the street together. They enjoyed visiting and playing cards. Some of the activities she enjoyed were: knitting (baby dresses and bonnets with ears), gardening, canning fruits, vegetables and meat, picking various fruits and mushrooms. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She made lots of desserts. Pauline sold cream, cottage cheese and chickens. She liked to read True Story and eat sunflower seeds on Sunday afternoons. One fun event Pauline liked at the farm was filling the pig trough with water and watching the pigs splash in it. Pauline and Peter traveled to California, Arizona and British Columbia. Pauline was predeceased by her parents: John and Ann Kitchen; by her husband Peter; by her brothers: Bill and Michael; by her sisters: Mary, Nellie, Olga & Alice. She leaves to celebrate and rejoice her memory, her son Richard (Linda) Slowski of Regina and daughter Shirley Slowski of Saskatoon; grandchildren: Marsha Slowski (Jason Hennig) of Regina, Bradford (Stephanie) Slowski of Regina: Christie Lupuliak (Mikey Young) of Saskatoon, Travis Lupuliak of Vancouver and Brady Lupuliak of Saskatoon; great-grandchildren: Natalia, Griffen and Clara Slowski of Regina and Tyrell, Hailey, Skylar and Kacey Young of Saskatoon. Pauline also leaves her sisters-in-laws: Ann Kitchen, Marge Kitchen, Lena Bergen and Betty Slowe and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Yvonne Panchuk & Parish Choir Members. The cross bearer was Peter Kobylka. The Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Bradford Slowski, Russell Slowski, Brady Lupuliak, Travis Lupuliak, Mikey Young, Tyrell Young and Larry Kitchen serving as the casket bearers.
