John McCormick Dunning 88, resident of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away Sunday December 17, 2017 at Grace Living Center in El Reno, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family. John was born September 25, 1929 the son of John McCormick and May Dunning (McBride) in Oklahoma City. He was a proud and honorable Veteran in the United States Air Force. He will be missed dearly.

OKLAHOMA CITY

John M. "Mac" Dunning, Jr. was born on Sept. 25, 1929 in Oklahoma City to Mary McBride and John "Jack" M. Dunning. He passed away Sunday Dec. 17, 2017. Mac's mother died shortly after he was born so he and his father went home from the hospital to his grandparents' home. When Mac started school, his father married Florence Kendall, and she raised Mac as her son. Mac graduated from Classen High School in 1947 and OU in 1951 where he was a Sigma Chi. Mac was an officer in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to OKC and worked with his father and grandfather at Chas. M. Dunning Construction Co., one of the oldest commercial construction companies in the state, and was the general contractor on many significant buildings including the Bishop Angie Smith Chapel at OCU, the original Planetarium and major parts of the Science Museum of OK. Mac is a past president of the AGC of OK. Mac married Shirley Agan Trigg in 1967. Mac loved family, golf and spending time at Silver Lake, MI. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Ann Dunning Clark and Julia Dunning Wert. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Robert Wert, children, John M. Dunning, III & LaDena "DeeDee" Mary Kay Dunning and their families. He is also survived by Marylee Trigg Strange & Tim, Ann Trigg McBride and Craig, and their children, Juliann Strange Test & Jack, Cullen Greer & Colleen, Katylee Strange Moehlenbrock & Scott and Courtney Greer Green & Andrew, and his special friend, Jackie McDannold. Donations may be made to Crossings Community Church. Mac's memorial service will be at the Chapel at Crossings Community Church on Sat., Jan. 6, at 10:30 am, followed by a luncheon at home of Marylee and Tim. Directed by Corbett Funeral Home.
