"Dorothy Woods, 91, died December 18, 2017 at Brownwood Nursing and Rehab Center. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Kenneth Flippin officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"She was born Dorothy Iola Cardwell on December 21, 1925 in Coleman County to Auburn C. “Slim” Cardwell and Myrtle Ethel Day Cardwell. She grew up in Millersview and attended school there. She went to nursing school in Plainview and received her LVN license. She worked in hospitals in Plainview, Wichita, Kansas and Fort Worth. She also worked at the nursing home in Bangs. She married Roy Woods in 1966 in San Angelo. When she was able to attend, Mrs. Woods was very active in church activities.

"Survivors include her children, Barbara Holst of Rowlett, Larry W. Flippin of Ballinger, Debbie Barbee of Taylor; three sisters, Marjorie Sheffield of Brownwood, Betty Burmeister of Texarkana, Alta Schuder of Eden; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

"Besides her parents, Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her husband Roy Woods in 1988 and two brothers, Joseph Richard Cardwell, who was stillborn, and Auburn C. Cardwell, Jr. in 1963."
