Sadie was found roaming the streets of Charlotte, NC in 2008. When she arrived at the shelter she had worms, was malnourished and was missing hair on her ears. The shelter had given her the name Forrest. We assume they called her Forrest because of her love of running.

We went to the shelter in search of a friend and looked at all of the lonely faces. They had females on the right side and males on the left. All of the cages were lit brightly except one. At the very end of the male side was a cage with no light. We walked to the cage and looked in thinking maybe it was empty. In the cage we saw the cutest face looking back at us. The sign hanging on the cage read "not good with children" and also "not good with other animals". We asked to meet with her and we spent time with her in one of the visitation rooms. She was very active and had a sweet disposition. She really enjoyed the attention we gave her. When I got up to leave the room she bolted out of the door in front of me and ran to the area that contained the cats. The door into the cat shelter happened to be open, so she ran in and began barking at all of the cats. I went in and brought her back out of the room. Enjoying her sweetness, mischievousness and adventurousness we decided to adopt her.

We adopted her on October 30, 2008. Right after we had finalized the paperwork the person who had helped us at the shelter informed us that Sadie would not have been there much longer due to the length of time she had already been there. He stated that he did not want to give us that information until after we decided to adopt her because he did not want to influence our decision.

Upon her first night in her new home she was given a bath (she never enjoyed baths). After the bath she jumped up on the bed, curled up in a ball and fell asleep as if she had lived with us and in our home her whole life.

Sadie loved digging for moles, barking at crows and chasing squirrels and bun buns (rabbits). She could jump very high and liked to try to climb trees to play with squirrels. She also really enjoyed spending time with neighbor Tony at the back fence. She would get so excited when she would see him in his yard. She would even bark for him to come say hi to her.

Sadie was a super sweet and extremely loving pup pup. She always gave unconditional love. She was a great comforter and snuggler. She helped me grow as a person. We will miss and love you forever Sadie Moon.
