Florence Ella (Gohr) Wacker, 88, died Sunday, December 24, at Valley View Villa after a 5-year battle with the effects of a massive stroke.

Florence was born on August 19, 1929 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Emil and Frieda (Quiram) Gohr. She graduated from Monte Vista High School and attended college at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, NE. and Adams State College in Alamosa, Co.

While on a teaching assignment in Greeley, CO, she met Arthur Wacker, a local farmer. They were married on July 1, 1951.

After the birth of her first child, Florence became a stay-at-home mother and wife. She and Art lived on several farms in their early years of marriage but settled on a farm northeast of Fort Morgan in 1967.

She was active in her church and in her children's activities. She loved to sing and was part of the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Her pies and baked goods were a favorite at family reunions and other gatherings. She loved crocheting and sewing.

Her family treasures her legacy of faith, courage, perseverance and love. Even with the effects of the stroke which confined her to a wheelchair, she didn't complain or become depressed.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Art; her parents; sisters Lucile Faulkner and Dora Hansen; brothers Lawrence, Alvin, Robert and Carl Gohr; and grandson Ian Galloway.

Survivors include her sisters, Ruth (Rudy) Brummond, Eva (Matt) Hammond, Erna (John) Hancock and Esther Schroeder.

Also surviving are four children: Kathy (Matt) Brasby of Fort Morgan, Norman (Bonnie) Wacker of Sundance, Wyo, John (Angela) Wacker of Karval, CO and Ann (Dave) Iungerich of Fort Morgan.

Also survivors are grandchildren: Cicilia (Lonnie) Hartley, Melissa (Jason) Galloway, Debbie (Jonathan) Rogers, Nathan (Valerie) Brasby, Becky (Devin) Seymour, Timothy Brasby, Javier Martinez, David (Jeri) Wacker, Chris Wacker, Ben (Angie) Wacker and Aaron Wacker, Felicia (Ryan) Clifford, Caitlin (Zach) Morris, Becca (Shae) Geist, Alex (Juliane) Iungerich, Luke (Amee) Ashlock, Matthew Iungerich, Max (Jodie) Iungerich.

She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 10 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan followed by interment at Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. A lunch will be served at Life Fellowship following interment and then a Celebration of Life at Life Fellowship at 1:30 pm will conclude the services.

Visitation will be at the Heer Chapel in Fort Morgan on Friday from 3 - 5 PM.
