Annette Harmel Backes was born April 17, 1916, in Terry MT, the daughter of Albert O and Marie H Harmel, who homesteaded here in. 1902 She attended local schools, graduating from Terry High School in 1935.
She had lived in CO for many years, retiring several years ago after teaching many years in Boulder. She and Mr Backes moved To AZ in the 1990's.
Mrs Backes, 66, died at the Las Flores Nursing Center, Mesa AZ. Survivors include her husband, Carl; one brother Albert of Terry; and three sons, Rolf Overlie of MN, Dr Paul Overlie of San Diego and Dr Roland Overlie of Medesto CA.
