Violett Tonahill, 78, of Jasper died Jan. 10 at Lakes Regional Medical Center in Jasper.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church in Jasper with burial at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
A native of Alexandria, Va., and former resident of Beaumont, she lived in Jasper 50 years. She was founder of Trinity Episcopal Church and school and also was the author of two books.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Halbert Tonahill Sr. of Jasper; sons, Smith Tonahill of Denver and Joe Tonahill Jr. of Vail, Colo.; daughters, Mildred Elmore and Susan Hile, both of Austin, Rebecca Tonahill of Houston and Ann Smith of Hemphill; brother, Howard Worth Smith Jr.; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal School, 105 West Collier, Jasper, Texas 75951.
