Desiderio Apodaca was a farmer in San Elizario who participated in the insurrection against the San Elizario Salt War antagonists Charles Howard and John G Atkinson. He was alleged to have commanded the firing squad that executed Howard, Atkinson and Texas Ranger John E Mc Bride on 17 December 1877.
