After 1884 and before 1888 Philip W. WELLS moved his family to Bradford Co. PA,very possibly to be near his brother Gustavus WELLS. We know for sure that his youngest son Charles Walter WELLS was born in Bradford County ,PA. in 1888,just 1 month before Philip died.
Now it gets tricky, family stories indicate Philip was killed by some sort of accident with a sled hauling logs or rails. Where this actual accident occurred is unclear, except it was in Pennsylvania. I was told, near the Horseshoe Curve. Another clue I have is the Wilson Graveyard. I have not been able to verify the exact location of his death or his burial. I cannot find any cemetery by that name, maybe it is no longer in existence. The death date is from a family bible, which disappeared long ago. One of my great Uncle's traveled there years ago and says he did in fact see Philip's grave on the side of a mountain by the Horseshoe Curve in Wilson's Graveyard.
I am only a 2nd great granddaughter and I am telling this story as it was told to me. I have only listed what facts I have, the rest of the family story about Philip was he was full of life and adventure, worked hard and loved his family and died way to soon at the young age of 39.
RIP Philip
with love, your 2nd great granddaughter,Tina
note Philip is spelled correctly... other credit for this story goes to my grandpa Stephen Wells, his brother's Bert, Frank and sister Nina
I created this memorial for Philip W. Wells on this day 31 Jan 2017. I used my own words and notes and census records and marriage records and my personally owned photo from my personal family file. It is not copied from anyone else nor is it taken from a newspaper.
