A memorial service for Bill R. Gholson, 74, of Bridgeport was held at the Cundiff Baptist Church, FM 1810, in Jack County on Sunday October 29, at 2:30pm. He passed away in Decatur Wednesday, October 18, 2017, just a month before his 75th birthday.

Bill was born November 16, 1942 in Goldthwaite, Texas to parents Roy Felix Gholson and Doris Rae (Shaw) Parker.

After graduation from Goldthwaite High School in 1961, Bill completed two years of college before serving our country as a Captain in the US Air Force. He moved to Bridgeport in 2000, where he worked in business for himself as an environmental engineer. He married Mca Jean (Rodgers) Gholson on July 26, 2003 in Bridgeport.

Bill enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and golfing, and was also a jack-of-all-trades .He loved Christmas, and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Cundiff Baptist Church since 2010, where he was very involved in church council, activities, and maintenance upkeep.

Bill is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mca Jean Gholson of Bridgeport; daughters Shawna (Gholson) James and husband John of Temple, Texas, Marilyn (Gholson) Hall and husband Billy of Odessa, Texas, Julie (Holland) Payne and husband Andy of Iowa Park, Texas, and Jayla (Holland) Stuntz of Bossier City, Louisiana; son Michael Holland and wife Lisa of Crown Point, Illinois; sister Rebecca Vinyard of Fullerton, California; a beloved family friend Bradley Roberts of Saginaw; granddaughters Hannah (Hall) Luxton, Cheyenne Hall, Schuyler Stuntz, Presley Payne, Kirsten Payne, and Gianna Holland; grandsons Benjamin Hall, Dustin James, Clifton James, Blake James, Wyatt Payne, Timothy Payne, Kyle Payne, and Levi Payne; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by ‘the boys’ Chigger and Tinker Toy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Charlie Rae Young.

Arrangements were entrusted to Jones Family Funeral Home-Bridgeport and credited for obituary.
