Mrs. Vera Mae Bailey, 86, of Kite passed away Monday morning, January 1, 2018 at her residence following and extended illness.

Mrs. Bailey was born September 22, 1931 in Swainsboro, Ga. to the late Melton Edenfield and Vida Mae Edenfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Felton Flanders and Artis Bailey; brother, Rufus Edenfield; sisters, Sarah Tucker, Betty Riner, Hattie Riner, Beulah Scruggs and Martha Robertson. Mrs. Bailey spent many years as a seamstress specializing in pageant gowns. Many people wore her creations proudly. She was well known for making Apple Tarts and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends. Her family was her greatest treasure. Mrs. Bailey was a devoted Christian, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church.



Survivors include her daughter, Sue Herrington (Rufus) of Kite; sons, Gene Flanders (Diane), Earl Flanders (Crystal) both of Kite, and Daniel Bailey (Cindy) of Canoochee; brothers, Edward Edenfield (Betty Mae), and Freddie Edenfield (Mildred) both of Blitchton; sisters, Dorothy Newman of Swainsboro and Mandy Boyette of Ellabell; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.



Funeral Services will be at the Kite Church of God 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 with Reverends Allen Meeks and Arthur Conley officiating. Mrs. Bailey will lie in state one hour prior to service.



Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Chris Flanders, Charlie Flanders, Matthew Mimbs, Austin Mimbs, Travis Flanders, and Richey Wilson.
